Drakenstein Association for Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) is a registered private welfare organisation affiliated to the Western Cape Association for Persons with Disabilities.
The core business of Drakenstein Association for Persons with Disabilities (DAPD) is to render social work services to persons with all kind of disabilities in the Drakenstein municipal areas:

Social Development
Disability affects individuals in various ways, depending on the cause of their impairment, their home life, personality, financial status, age, gender, social environment, and other factors, and can happen to anyone at any time.

Activity Group
The DAPD activity group is a two-year programme offering cognitive, emotional, socialisation and physical skills training and development. The group gathers once a week for arts and crafts, training and personal development.

Protective Workshop
The Protective Workshop of DAPD offers sheltered job creation and skills training for the clients that take part in the programme. We transport as many clients we can accommodate daily. DAPD offers social services to clients with any form of impairment.

Sewing Project
Partnerships with the corporate sector, state and other community-based organizations as well with professionals in different fields are vital if we are to be successful. Good partnerships can be positive and productive, creating opportunities for all, enhancing the VISION and MISSION of DAPD.

Contract Team
The contract team does contract work for Companies that Partner with DAPD, offering and creating jobs for them. The team is also involved in a Recycling Project. Many local farms donate old cans and pipes which the team collects & sells.

Sign Language Choir
The DAPD Sign Language Choir has 15 members, 4 of whom are hearing-impaired and has had many noteworthy performances to date.
